Scientific Advisor

Dr. Aaron Goldman, PhD

Dr. Aaron Goldman is a Scientific Advisor at Fern DNA, as well as the Chief Science Officer at DNA Labs. He earned his Ph.D. in Molecular Genetics from Yale University and completed post-doctoral studies at the University of Toronto.

Dr. Goldman has over 20 years of experience and expertise in the latest genomic technologies. In his role at Fern DNA, he oversees all aspects of genetic test design, interpretation, and implementation. He also advises on strategic planning and business development.

Dr. Goldman has served as the Director of Genomics Services at the University Health Network/Mount Sinai Hospital Clinical Genomics Centre in Toronto. He was also the Research Program Director and co-founder of Mt. Sinai Hospital’s Office of Personalized Genomics and Innovative Medicine.

Dr. Goldman first got into DNA testing while running a genomics lab at Mount Sinai Hospital. Here, he was performing genomics as a service for the research community. His lab was equipped with the latest in cutting-edge DNA sequencing and genotyping platforms, which were not found in most academic labs. Researchers from all over the world would send them their samples, and they would analyze them as a service to support their research.

The field of genomics is relatively new, but it’s already made huge strides in understanding how DNA works. With the development of new genomic technologies came a drastic reduction in the cost of reading the information stored in our DNA. This enabled his team, and the broader research community, to generate a massive amount of knowledge to better understand how DNA works — and more importantly, how the information can be used to improve our health.

With his expertise, Dr. Aaron Goldman has set out to make personalized medicine more affordable and accessible through lifestyle genetics testing.
